Lone Wolf Book 2: Fire on the Water – Playthrough

Today’s post is my continuing play though of Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf gamebook series.  Next up is book 2: Fire on the Water.

Firewater

Continuing on from the first book Flight from the Dark, Lone Wolf has successfully travelled through enemy held territory to reach the capital city of Holmgard and an audience with the king.  You have barely been able to take stock of things when the king tasks you to travel to Durenor and to retrieve the Sommerswerd which can be used to defeat Darklord Zagarna and his army which is besieging the capital.

The quest takes you on a journey over sea and land in which Lone Wolf must face many perils including having his steps dogged by the sinister agents of the Darklords.  Will Lone Wolf be able to travel to the Durenese capital of Hammerdal, avoiding all the dangers, retrieve the Sommerswerd and then return in time to raise the siege..?

“Forty days, Lone Wolf. We have strength to stand against them for only forty days” – King Ulnar V of Sommerlund

I’ve enjoyed playing through this book once again, I have always considered books one and two to be one extended quest as book two starts pretty much immediately after the events of book one.  However it did take me five goes to succeed on this one mainly due to some incredibly bad luck Random Number Table picks.  I won’t give too much away but there is a section in the book where you have to pick a number from the Random Number Table and if you pick a zero then it is instant death.  The first four times of trying I amazingly picked a zero every time on this section!  However I eventually got through on the fifth attempt.

I am now looking forward to getting on and playing Lone Wolf Book 3: The Caverns of Kalte.  Thanks for tuning in and I hope that you enjoy my video.
